Description

Juris is a digital legal information platform developed to bridge the gap in legal knowledge among Mozambican citizens. The project provides simplified and well-structured access to Mozambican legislation — including Family Law, Land Law, Labor Law, Traffic Law, the Constitution, Business Law, and Consumer Law — through a responsive website and a mobile application available on both Google Play and the App Store. With over 10,000 downloads and a 4.3-star rating, Juris empowers urban and rural communities to know and defend their rights directly from their mobile devices.

My Role and Contributions
  • Backend & API Development: Developed and maintained the backend architecture and RESTful API endpoints responsible for serving structured legal content to both the website and the mobile application.

  • Database Design & Management: Designed and structured the database to organize Mozambican laws by categories, chapters, and articles, ensuring efficient querying and content delivery across platforms.

  • Content Delivery API: Built the API layer that feeds legal content to the mobile app, supporting offline data synchronization, search functionality, and structured navigation through law categories.

  • Complaint & Contact System: Implemented the backend logic for processing contact form submissions and citizen complaints with photo attachments, including email notification delivery.

Key Features
  • Simplified Legal Content: Mozambican laws presented in simplified, easy-to-understand language, making legal information accessible to all citizens regardless of their education level.

  • Advanced Search: Powerful search tool that allows users to quickly locate specific legal articles, chapters, and provisions across all available laws.

  • Multiple Law Categories: Covers Family Law, Land Law, Traffic Law, Labor Law, the Constitution, Business Law, and Consumer Law — with more laws being progressively added.

  • Cross-Platform Mobile App: Native mobile application available on both Google Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS), with 10,000+ downloads and a 4.3-star rating.

  • Complaint Submission with Photos: Citizens can submit legal complaints directly through the mobile app, including the ability to attach photographic evidence for documentation.

  • Responsive Website: Fully responsive website with sections for law browsing, project information, photo gallery, testimonials, partner showcase, and a contact form.

Technology Stack
  • Backend Framework: PHP-based backend managing routing, server-side logic, content management, and RESTful API endpoints for the mobile application.

  • RESTful API: Custom API layer serving structured legal content, supporting search queries, complaint submissions, and offline data synchronization for the mobile app.

  • Database: Relational database structured to organize laws by categories, chapters, and articles, with optimized queries for fast search and content retrieval.

  • Email & Notifications: Integrated email system for handling contact form submissions and complaint notifications from both the website and mobile app.
