Backend engineering with Laravel, Node.js and Spring Boot to build scalable APIs and secure server-side architectures. I develop reliable systems that power modern web and mobile applications, with efficient data processing, solid integrations and optimised database performance.
The backend is the part of the system nobody sees and everybody remembers when it breaks. My job is to make sure it doesn't. I build server-side architectures designed to last: organised code, separated concerns, data modelled properly from day one, and room to grow without a rewrite. I work primarily with Laravel, but also with Node.js and Spring Boot where the context calls for it.
System Architecture: Defining the project's technical structure, separation of concerns, domain modelling and technology choices justified by the problem rather than by fashion.
Multi-Tenant Systems: SaaS platforms with per-client data isolation discriminator column, schema-per-tenant or dedicated database, depending on the isolation level required.
Modular Architecture: Plugin systems that enable and disable features per client or per plan, with no code changes and no separate deployments.
Asynchronous Processing: Queues, scheduled tasks and background processing for heavy operations, bulk sends and integrations with slow external services.
Security and Access Control: Authentication, granular role and permission-based authorisation, endpoint protection and audit logging of sensitive operations.
Legacy System Maintenance: Recovery, refactoring and evolution of existing systems, including cases where the documentation no longer exists.
Frameworks: Laravel (primary), Node.js and Spring Boot.
Databases: MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL, including PostGIS for geospatial data.
Infrastructure: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Linux server administration and cloud hosting.
